I can see some benefits, not cheap, but I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience. They are a lot lighter. Here is Mr. Brock selling them on his BRE site.

sometimes I get the urge to get one, but their price makes me think "lead acid is just as good." Doesn't seem worth the money to me for a DD

The Optimas seem good enough for me right now. If I raced I would want to drop weight, but that isn't a street application.

I had a braille dry cell before. Been a few years, and I don't recall if it was litium ion or something else. It was light, but if the car sat for week or 2 it would require a jump to start. There wasn't much parasitic draw in that car either (other than the clock, and radio presets).

I would be concerned about safety. DHL, FedEx, and UPS won't let you ship 3 laptops in the same box (if they know about it) because of Li-Ion hazards.

I personally wouldn't bother unless it was for a track car or unless it was OE. For example some new AMG's have li-ion batteries from the factory, lots of safety tech built into them. New S63/65 battery weighs only about 20lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if M cars do this as well.
